Armitage with Handsacre Parish Council

Our Schools

There are two main primary schools in Armitage with Handsacre, both of which are non-selective Community Schools.

Hayes Meadow is a one form entry Primary school with a purpose built Nursery providing education for pupils aged 3 – 11 years with an approximate capacity for 200 pupils, located in Spode Avenue in Handsacre.

They aim to provide their pupils with a broad range of learning experiences that will excite and inspire them in a caring and secure environment. Their motto is ‘Be the Best We Can Be’ and they ensure pupils develop a variety of skills to achieve their aspirations

The second is the Croft Primary School, off Rugeley Road in Armitage. The Croft Primary School is a co-educational day school administered by Staffordshire County Council Education Committee. It caters for children from 4+ in the Reception Class to Year 6 at the age of 11. The school is situated in a semi-rural position on the edge of the village of Armitage. 

Both schools are rated as “Good” in their latest Ofsted assessments and reports.

There is also another school within Armitage with Handsacre called Loxley Hall School. They currently provide education for 96 students aged from 11 to 16 years. Loxley Hall is a special school for children with social, emotional and mental health difficulties with resulting behavioural problems. Our students’ needs cannot be met in mainstream education. Loxley Hall School is successful because of the positive relationships they develop with families and children.

On the border with Rugeley, and close to the Hawkesyard Estate is Hob Hill Primary, on Armitage Lane. This is a CE/Methodist, Voluntary Controlled School, and has an approx capacity of 215 pupils. Again a “Good” rating from Ofsted, these are the schools local to the village of Armitage with Handsacre.
